Andy, I’m not sure. It was a piece of hobby board labeled “Keilu”, but I don’t know if that was the species or place of origin. Very dense wood.

I made one as well. Thought I would probably never use it but I have used it several times now.

Great looking! I made a large one out of an old oak pallet. The thing weighed almost 2 pounds I tried using it for chisel work and my shoulder got sore. I need to make a smaller one lol.
