I am completely out and looking for some handouts if anyone has some they are wanting to get rid of. Will be doing some training in the next month and out of funds also.
Thanks a ton
O and PS - if they are a specialty pen kit let me know and where I can get the bushings and instructions on putting them together and drill bit size.
Please PM me if you do. We sure could use the help. Even the cheapest slime line kits from PennstateInd will work for us.
Another PS - If you have a small board of Purpleheart or Bloodwood or Red heart or Yellowheart or even Zebrawood that is 5" long I can cut that up into pen blanks.
If anyone does not have any kits but would love to help us I will provide a link to Penn State Ind wish list I have.
If anyone buys from this list and we receive the order I will personally make you a Pen or Pencil from the order if it is $50 or more that you donate.
If you donate over $200 I will make a Pen & Pencil matching set with a case.
If you donate $500 in the wish list I will make a matching set of a 30-06 pen in camo green both in click and twist, .50 Cal pen in camo green and a Key chain in camo green in a nice presentation box.
If you donate $1000 in the wish list I will do the same as the above all in Antler and with a matching Pen & Pencil set to any woods or acrylics or antler you wish. I will even throw in an Ice Cream Scoop and a Pizza Cutter to boot. In a acrylic or wood.
I'm low on pen kits myself Arlin and I don't have any of the woods you listed. I do have several Cocobolo pen blanks I can send your way if you want those though?
I sent you a message last night. Please reply with your address and I'll send you some kits that I have and a box of blanks. Are you interested in any other type of project kits, mostly lathe type.
Arlin,
You might get more donations if you explain in your first post, who you are and what cause someone is donating to, rather than assuming everyone knows.
I certainly don't know.
I gather that you are engaging in charity work and teaching people to turn, which seems a worthy cause,
but other than that…. no idea without doing a bit more digging.
I would suppose you'd get more donations if that was made clear.

Thanks for the insight buddies!!!! Having brain damage does not help.
.
To let people who do not know me.
I am a 100% disabled vet from a bombing in the middle east. For the last 6 years I have been teaching other disabled vets and family members and well anyone else how to turn and some teaching in using hand planes which I still am not good at.
I start them off with turning pine or ceder and they end up turning their own pen to take home with them. Thru donations and me buying what is needed they have gone home with over 5000 pens and pencils and if I had them key chains or bottle stoppers.
I guess I do not know what else to say?
Since the one link does not work and asks for a log in of mine I will provide the links to a few pages of what we like---
Colored pens and any of the Gold, Silver, Black Enamel, Copper, Brass, or Gun Metal
PS - If there is a pen that you would like made with the order you help us with make sure you pm me the details and when I get the package I will set it aside from the other stuff and make it for you. They also carry acrylic and nice woods as well.
It's good work you're doing Arlin. Thank you for your efforts. And thank you for your service!!!
I just addressed a box for you with some Purpleheart, Cocobolo, Katalox, Rosewood and Bloodwood (or maybe Redheart not sure which it is) that should make some nice looking pens! I'll try to get it dropped by the Post Office tomorrow. Monday at the latest.
Thank you for shipping the wood I know they will love it. Another plus is I found some 1/8"x1.5" ebony strips that someone gave me some years ago and I can add that to some of the wood on a diagonals.
Dropped my package off yesterday Arlin, it's scheduled to arrive Tuesday. It's not much but I hope you get good use from the blanks!
I know this was suggested somewhere else before but I don't remember which thread… But, for the amount of supplies/donations you're in need of, you'd probably get more if you had a non-profit set up. I don't know what all is involved with that but I do know that for folks that are willing and able to donate large amounts, the ability to write them off for tax purposes is desirable.
It is not the amount given but the intent and the heart of the person giving that counts most!!!!
I need help and that is all I can say about that. I had to admit after I was hurt I could not do what I wanted nor smart enough anymore to do much on my own due to brain damage.
We have hope that there will be some people who will take up the cause and for donations and spreading the word. We want to start with one building and have at least one in every state and for the bigger states more then one.
I will try and get that put up here in the next month with what I have done and what we want to do. It takes me along time to put things on paper and get it organized and my thoughts as well.
I believe personally there are none better then this company and they will try to make your idea into a blank to.
