Topic tags/keywords: jet jwbs-18 bandsaw resaw

Been in the market for a good bandsaw for resawing and this one popped up in FB Marketplace. Haven’t seen much info on it and was wondering if you think it’s a good deal or not?

Originally was leaning toward the Rikon 10-326 but the price on this one is enticing.

It’s a good deal. Doesn’t appear to have quick release blade tension. That may or may not matter to you.

Looks like it is a pretty old model. Comparing it to the new ones, there’s a lot of things missing. Blade tension, decent fence, 3hp motor to name a few. Might try to talk them down a little more.

I would actually prefer the old style fence.

i dont have a jet bandsaw but i have a few of there other machines and ive had no issues with any to date,i would not hessitate to buy another jet machine in the future.unless your doing a lot of heavy resawing it should be plenty of hp.quick release blade tension, maybe, personally i never release the tension and have never had an issue.that saw new is around 2100 so if it’s in great shape id go for it.id try and get him down more though.let us know how it turns out.

Oh well. Doesn’t matter now. It sold. Gonna just save up for the Rikon.

I never seem to get the deals. If there’s one that pops up, I’m not in a position to jump on it, and when I am ready, there’s nothing out there!. Happened to see a Grizzly 1023 cabinet saw last week that posted 8 minutes earlier for $350. I hesitated and within 2 hours, it was gone.

Rikon/Laguna. Toss up. Jet and Griz, a step down. I went Harvey. I like the guides better. I could only afford the space for the 14.

Consider yourself fortunate. I had one of those saws off Craigslist. Happily sold it for more than I paid for it to get into a rikon 13-340. Great saw and great customer service.
