Topic tags/keywords: website terms conditions use copyright property lumberjocks

I had posted a bunch of stuff, and I didn’t know what I was talking about. It was concerning copyright, which I do not know a ton about. All I can say is that follow CaptainKlutz’s comments.

I guess I never read the fine print either, but I send my projects all over the place and never heard anything negative about that.

Cheers, Jim

1) Standard boiler plate for public forums

2) If you want to protect your IP or trademarks; it is your responsibility to watermark every page and/or picture. If you post any material to ANY site without the trademark/watermark; then you are willingly sharing your information in public domain. Only when you watermark your postings on the internet is your IP protected. By posting the watermarked items to these forum, you do not give away your rights, only sharing a license to use the information with watermarking. (just like legalese says: ‘by other parties’)

3) Between Wayback Machine and Pinterest image scraping; the internet is forever. NEVER EVER post any image, or information that you are not freely giving away to entire world, or that doesn’t not have proper trademark/copyright identification to protect your IP.
BTW – The better the idea, and more money it can make; the faster it will be copied.

4) To avoid internet trolls tracking you down, stealing your identity, and/or taking all your cool stuff:
Always remove any and ALL personal information in your photos; including license plate numbers, house numbers, and geo location data embedded inside photos.

Signed, currently anonymous victim of internet and patent trolls.

PS – I always read the fine print. :-)

YMMV

All that’s saying is that material on the site is owned by them and other parties are prohibited from using it. In other words, I can’t take one of your project photos and use it for my own purposes, say to advertise a product, or display it on my web site. Obviously you own the rights to photos of your own work and can do with them as you please.

That said, while you can’t delete your project posts, you can edit them. You can delete any photos you uploaded and can replace the text of your original post with a dot or -deleted- or anything else you please.

EDIT: I see you’ve already done that.

I copied this (”Anticipatory Inertia Blocker”) from an LJ, and am waiting for the lumberjock police to show up at my house any day.

lol Too funny! That block is assuredly in the public domain as “prior art”!

Anyone wants to use anything I’ve published they are welcome to it. None of my stuff is all that original. I’ll be watermarking my family coat of arms carving though, if I ever finish it.
