A while ago I posted this question about using a tent as a spray booth in the garage. I have done it. It works MUCH better than I had hoped. NO hair or bugs or whatever in there… I treat it like a clean room. I use a number of fans to keep the air moving and a large filter at one end proved that there was a LOT more in the air than I had thought! Definitely glad I wore a respirator. Posted a youtube video to show the details:

Here is the filter after one quick spray. It has a pre-filter cover that -was- white. I didn’t think there was anything in there!

I’m glad that worked out for you. I wasn’t expecting it not to work (well), just pondering the cost versus some alternatives. What’s important is that you have a solution you like! What are you using to pull the air through that filter, it looks like it’s hooked to a 6” flex hose.

I have thought about doing this a hundred times but never have. Now that I see it works, this seems like a most economical way of obtaining a portable spray booth. Thanks for pioneering and sharing.

That is great. How you done a test to see how it does without the blowers on the outside?

I have used the rockler tent for a couple years now…I got it for Xmas a few years back. It truly is just a tent and 3 times as much. I saw a large pop up tent the other day at Aldis for like 20.00….when the rockler is no longer viable, I will buy something similar to that…you just have to be careful to not get something too tall for your garage. I would also make sure it has a floor.

So, is NASA funding this clean room as a beta test for satellite assembly? Or, is this an excuse to be really safe from COVID19? All in jest. Wonderful commitment to a finished project. Well done. Brian

Ha! Thanks! Still so much to learn. It’s a process and once you’re in there you don’t want to come out again until the process is complete

Not that it matters what the neighbors think, but….I wonder what your neighbors must think.

I get MANY dog walkers, baby strollers, evening walkers, school goers that walk by the garage… Some weird looks, so people who actually ask -and some who either don’t notice or pretend not to.

Have your say...
