Topic tags/keywords: restoration brass bronze metal stainless steel phone gloss

Hello my friends. How are you?

I restored a antique telephone made with bronze or brass. And now i want to craft a wood base for the phone, but i dont know how is the correct wood that combine with high gloss of polished brass.
I think in 2 diferents woods, dark and light

Dark, like mahogany

or light like hard maple

For your opinions wich wood combine better with the metal?

This is the link of my restoration video:

Nice job on the restoration of the phone.

I’m no design expert, but between the two choices you suggested, I’d go with the mahogany. I think the darker wood would show off the phone better. You may want to consider something even darker, though. Maybe closer to the color of the handle of the phone. Well done.
