Hello all.
My grandson has built the Lego Saturn V rocket and i am planning to build a hanging corner shelf for it. The rocket is over 39 inches tall and 6 inches in diameter. the two sides and front will be glass with a wood frame from Cherry. If you have built anything like this would you please send pictures. Thanks in advance.

Have you thought of adding an LED accent light in the top? You can get a multicolor LED remote controlled waterproof 3x AAA battery puck with built in magnet and mtg plate at Walmart for $10. Makes a great night light for a kids room.

Use lexan instead of glass.

Rockler sells “space balls” that prevent the glass/lexan from rattling.

Kick the platform back a degree or two to bias it backwards into the corner to make it less tippy

Corner Shelf with three sides? Wall Hanging…

Agree with Mark, Lexan will be less expensive, lighter and MUCH safer than picture glass

Maybe a simple box frame with dadoes in the two faces into the room to hold the lexan, to keep it simple, I’d likely do a drop on top that could hold the light Mark suggests. Wall attachment is just a cleat under the shelf, you should be able to hit a stud in the corner and then some snap toggles would be plenty to hold it.

Have your say...
