Above is a picture of a cabinet I'd like to build. I'm new to woodworking and it seems like a fairly moderate level project. The pullout shelving will most likely be a different, more simple setup than pictured.
Does anyone have any plans, ideas, resources etc to assist me in getting started?
It will be self standing.
It will have pull out shelving just maybe not exactly hows its pictured but possibly sliding rails along the sides instead of how the rail is along the top in the picture.
Here's one I did a while back. The three pull out trays are 6" deep and ride on undermount slides. The bottom drawer is 12" deep and the upper cabinet has an adjustable shelf.
The last photo shows it installed with trim in place.
Cabinets are easy once you understand how they are built and there is more than one right way to build them. John Heisz on youtube (ibuildit.ca) has built quite a few cabinets if you want to see how they go together. Wood Magazine has a youtube series on cabinet building that is outstanding. There are several good books but I only found one without errors, can't remember whose, might have been Bob Lang's book. So if you build from a plan go over the measurements carefully and make sure they add up. I built a refrigerator cabinet that size (3/4" birch) and it was easy but I didn't have to add drawers, but I've done drawers on other cabinets. Cabinets are like tables, once you "get it", you'll have it, and be able to build anything.
