Topic tags/keywords: help store sawmill dealer hardwood I’ve recently moved to South Georgia (Valdosta). I’m looking for some places to buy hardwoods for various projects. I’m close to Gainesville (90min), Jacksonville (100min), Tallahassee (75min), and then Atlanta and Orlando are both 3 hours away. I’ve been scouring google and FB Marketplace, but wondering if anyone here has some good spots they have used before. Thanks! |

Capital City Lumber was the place in Tallahassee when I lived there in the 90’s. It’s still around , but not sure its’ worth a 3 hour drive. They used to be THE source for Redwood back then. Blackwater Timber over in Thomasville is a real treat. They have everything you could possibly want, but bring a fat wallet. RedHills also in T’ville if you want heartpine. Hood Dist. is a biggie in Jacksonville. I’d check craigslsit , FB market, ect… There must be some good ol country sawyers around your neck of the wood to get a hold of some quality, inexpensive boards for woodworking. |

LOL S. GA is big source of SYP, cypress, and cedar. Several large commercial sawmills in area, if you want PINE. Plenty of sheet plants making Ply and OSB too. There is some oak, Hickory, and Cherry in the general area. Smaller mills should have it. Did you ask Google Maps? https://www.google.com/maps/search/saw+mill+near+Valdosta,+GA/@30.806971,-83.3540968,11z Woodmizer also has Find a Sawyer page: Best Luck. -- If it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have no luck at all, - Albert King - Born Under a Bad Sign released 1967 |
