Hi all,

I’m about to build a couple shoji doors, and I pretty much know what I have to do, but I’m wondering if anyone here has experience with this. Any links to the classic Japanese style? Especially the joinery for the screen..?

I already found some sources for decorative shoji paper, but if anyone wants to recommend a good site, I’ll appreciate that too.

Basically, the frame will be African Mahogany with mortice and tenon corners, no problem there… But I’m still deliberating about how I will do the joinery for the paper frame insert. Modern shoji paper is much more durable than the old rice paper, but I still want it to be as easy as possible to replace, in case the kids or pets manage to break it.

Thanks in advance… I’ll share some pics as this project takes shape.
