I corralled together some of my favorite user planes:

Ready to tackle any uber-lamination to utter flatness.

Way cool, Bandit! nice shavings, too. Luv them big planes. I’ll pull out my 6’s, 7’s and 8’s for a family shot…soon.

Now, some Transitional planes, mostly 20” or more:

It’s good to let them air out their britches, once in a while...

I don’t have pics of all of them but here’s what was in use last night.

From right to left: #14, #10 and #18.

Edit: I just noticed my 65-1/2 is photobombing in the background too ;-p

The Stanley 29 that I actually used to flatten the bench I built:

Thanks for the great responses, guys!

Hokie, I’d expect no less from you, a family shot featuring Millers Falls planes. Is your 65 1/2 a M-F as well?

SMP: Yeah, that’s one gorgeous #29. It’s so great to see them with no checking or splits on the sole, good clean intact tote and knob, and a good black finish.

I gotta make a confession. In the original post, the photo shows planes I built beds for, and they are around 34” to 36” long, yup way exaggerated beyond the stock length. To add to the visual, I placed a miniature (4 oz.) Coke can, and a 2 oz. Dixie cup beside it as a prop.

Have you checked your calendar?

I had to re-organize my plane group, the biggies were all sorta jumbled together and quite dusty. So, once assembled for a group shot or two, they went back to their lair, sorted by size. Thank heavens for compressed air! These planes mostly will be refurbished and returned to full duty, though probably in other peoples’ shops.

This also explains my recent venture in fabricating new totes, and re-constituted totes by creating the original ‘horns’ that so frequently get snapped off.

I’ve been sequestered too long, but I continue to be well. Hope everyone prevails through these times of contagion, we’ll all be stronger once it’s over.

Found some stragglers in a cabinet buried deep. Mostly sevens and eights. And a 5 1/2 triple patent that I never could find!!

Thanks for your interest! Peace, Out.

Nope, the 65-1/2 is a Stanley PK. I’m way too fond of it and my 9-1/2 to let them go anywhere. I may add some more MF block planes to my till in the future but I have a feeling those two will always have a place ;-)

If my wife ever complains about how many hand planes I have, I’ll show her this thread ;-)

Hmmm, guess I had better hide this one..

Maybe..

I’ll keep it boxed up….

And hid on a shelf….

LOL, that one’s safe Bandit. I lost interest when they switched to the red and gray painted stuff and introduced the V-line. That was the beginning of the end IMO :-(

hokie: I’ll see if I have any block planes by Millers Falls. I’m still chuckling over your last remark! To my wife I insist that I am a curator of planes, not a hoarder!

bandit: Your beautiful boxed Millers Falls looks like you found it in a time warp! Does it stay in the box or do you give it a run from time to time? Excellent.

It will get out and about, from time to time. Right now, a Maroon plane is at work..

Stanley No. 60-1/2, Cordovan. I have it’s twin, still in the OEM box, just in case…

Yep, bandit, if my maroon Stanley 9 1/2 was any closer, I’d have to wear a nail apron to carry it around.
