Topic tags/keywords: class ringmaster instruction

Hello Fellow Woodworkers,

I have been tinkering in the woodworking world all my life (I’m 66 years old) but just starting get serious in the last five years. I’m members of two different woodturning clubs in SE Texas. I attended SWAT in Waco last August and bought a Ringmaster from Peter Merritt. I have got it set up and have turned about 6-8 bowls, but I need to have somebody teach me(hands on) the finer points of the Ringmaster. I will be willing to travel from Texas and pay someone for the class. Let me know your thoughts please.

Hi Marshall,
if you care to, look at some of my bowl projects https://www.lumberjocks.com/recycle1943/projects
They are all done on a ringmaster and regarding a class, never heard of one other than a guy in Florida had an in-house hands on course.
I’ll try to find a name for him and perhaps a link to contact him.
btw – all of my RM bowl projects are seat of the pants

Thank you Dick,

Yes I know that guy in South Florida, his name is Lloyd Cheney and I looked him up and talked to him. He’s not doing much with the ringmaster these days and not anymore classes. Would you consider giving me a class on how you make bowls on the ringmaster. I like the idea that you work by the seat of your pants in your planning of the RM projects. Give It some thought and let me know please.
