I was planing a drawer and caught my hand between the plane and the back of the drawer drawing a surprising amount of blood and in reaction I dropped the plane and it snapped! But bummer of a day. It was a craftsman 4cbb which was made by Millers Falls. Not collectible or anything but it worked well. Guess I need a new number 4. Does anyone have a good no 4 they’re looking to sell?

I know you dropped it so you could tell the wife a new tool is needed. You just can’t make anything without it. I hope you weren’t hurt as bad as the plane.

Could have been A LOT worse, could have been a planer (what i thought first second i read it). Someone else would have had to type that up for you.

Bummer!

I’ve got about 6 Bailey 4s, not counting the ones I don’t count, but I’m not ready to sell any.

eBay awaits you.

Get you a Stanley S4. Then if you drop it, only the wood will break, and you can glue that.

They made an S5 too!

Or you can search for a direct replacement for your plane – or a broken plane with good base.

Like this maybe.

In my to “waiting restoration” box I have two user grade Stanley Bailey patern No. 4 planes… Complete, perfectly usable, just not pretty… Send me a PM and we’ll can work something out. Hopefully your cut wasn’t too bad…

Dave, I have a Dunlap 4CBB – Millers Falls made but for Dunlap instead of Craftsman. I’ll swap you for your busted one. I do a lot of MF restores and I can use the hardware/knob/tote. The one I have is tuned up and ready to work. Shoot me a PM if ya wanna trade.

Thanks for the suggestions everybody! First and foremost I need to quit being dramatic and dropping things when I get a small cut!
