Can anyone tell me anything about the Sunhill CT204L 8” jointer? There is one for sale here for $400. That seems like a good deal for an 8” jointer but I know nothing about this brand.

Can anyone help me?

Sunhill brand is dead in US. There is a LJ thread on topic.
It’s made by Geetech. Same mfg as everyone else uses. Grizzly, Jet and PM still buy machines from them. Compatible parts are available from Grizzly and others.

$400 is good price, be gone by time you asked about it in my area.
Normal ‘reasonable’ selling price for 8” Geetech runs $450-500.

OWWM Rule No. 5: In the time between finding a machine and asking others if you should buy it someone else will come to the proper conclusion.

Cheers!

BTW – there are 2 models, forget which Sunhill number is which version:

One has 3 knife head with 1.5-2.0 HP 110v/220v and shorter 65-67” table.

Other has 4 knife head with 2HP 220v with longer 72-75” table.

The 4 knife head with longer table and stronger motor tends to sell for slightly higher.

The Grizzly 4 knife model is G0500, Grizzly 3 knife version is G1018.

Fun Fact:
The retail price in 90’s was only $550, even though the same thing costs ~$1000 today.

What, you haven’t bought it yet?

Won’t last long unless something’s broken.

I think it runs on 220v and I don’t have that in my garage yet.

Am I wrong about the voltage?

I saw the same one. If I had the space I would have inquired. $400.00 seems like a very good price for a 8” jointer.

What is motor size is it?

Grizzly G0500 manual for same Geetech machines claims even the 2HP motor can run 110v on page 8?

Although you will need a 25-30A breaker due start up current.

Get a pic of motor name plate, or go see for yourself.

Already own one, or it’d be gone already.

If this sits for another couple days, and owner would take less than asking price, it would be flip-able for a profit; so don’t wait for me to go ask about motor …...... LOL

Cheers!

The Sunhill owner isn’t replying to any requests for info. If it requires 25-30 amps startup on 110v, I still wouldn’t be able to run it in my garage. Unfortunately, my home builders thought it would be a good idea to put the electrical box as far from the garage as possible. It would cost me a fortune to even run another 110v line.

I did find a Jet JJ-60S for $350. What do you think about that jointer and the price. I think it’s a 2005. Smaller but may be better suited to my small garage in the short term.

Thanks!

I also made one last ditch effort to contact the Sunhill owner.
