Not sure if this belongs in the hand tool forum but I thought people on here might have come across these as well.

I am in the market for some deep throat f-clamps and was looking at a local store here in Louisville (Bargain Supply in case someone here is from the area). They usually have a decent supply of Bessey clamps and was hoping to get a few but they only had the light duty Bessey f-clamps.

All the deep throat f-clamps were a company called Tolsen which I had never heard of. They had maybe 18” and maybe 24” sizes and the 18” ones were $18. They were definitely solid feeling and pretty hefty. I held off because I am looking for 12” ones because I just like using them for work holding (like clamping a piece to a bench).

I looked around on the internet but there isn’t much about them. It looks like they are brand from a company called Cablematic who is probably trying to break into a new market. Probably Chinese made.

Anyone come across either the clamps or the company? If they get some 12” ones in stock I might try a few but in the meantime I’m just curious if anyone has any info or maybe tried one of their tools or clamps out.

Thanks

Never heard of Tolsen Tools?
Let me look and see what I can find:

Tolsen Tools is direct sales brand from Chinese company called Jiangsu Universal Industrial Co., Ltd.

IMHO – Guessing one reason you won’t find much information online is for many years Tolsen tools were only imported into India by Bombay Imports? Can’t find any record of who is importing them over last year; which means they are likely being sold to a distribution company that sells them to smaller companies?

The electrical tools look like knock offs of popular Wiha Werkzeuge GmbH products.
The quick ratchet bar clamps appear to be knock of the Jorgeson clamps.
Can find at least 6 different brand names on Amazon/fleabay showing the same design clamp for sale. The F-Clamps with plastic handles also are sold under many names too.

If you squeeze one of the ratchet clamps with both hands and it doesn’t break, then buy/try a couple?
I did that at HF, and my gorilla grip destroyed their version of squeeze clamp instantly.
The cheap f-clamps usually bend the bar, before they are permanently damaged. But then again, the HF clamps I tested with plastic grip handles will de-bond from screw and refuse to turn the screw once it breaks.

Cheap is cheap. Name brands or generic, it’s only a name.
Test as you will use, and buy if it meets your needs.

Best Luck.

Possibly our Australian friends could shine more light on TOLSON, and something to do with a clamp.

Fleabay AU had this.

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TOLSON-Swivel-Bench-Vice-with-Anvil-50mm-/323920569212?_trksid=p2349526.m4383.l10137.c10&nordt=true&rt=nc&orig_cvip=true

Or maybe just contact the seller, his/her store has quite the TOLSON assortment.

Deep reach or deep throat, I am just talking about something like 5” heavy duty f clamps. I’ve got one or two of the Bessey deep throat clamps and they run about 30 bucks and up. Just me always looking for a deal for better or worse.

The store that sells them closes at 6 during the week so I can rarely make it there until the weekend. I am probably going to pick up a few this weekend and see how they do. I’ll report back then.
