thinking of investing in a vacuum pump, for use with veneering as well as stabilizing blanks (knife handles, etc). the research i see tends to be about veneering or separately stabilizing, but not both. anybody use theirs for both, or have recommendations?

I do. I have a venturi type vacuum but either should work fine. I did my stabilizing in my vacuum bag before just spending about $50 on eBay for a 2-gallon pot.

When I need to stabilize larger pieces, I still use my bag. I made a strong shallow box beefy enough not to collapse and hold a tupperware dish inside for the flat pieces and solution.

Have your say...
