I’m looking to finish a bamboo countertop (not used for food) with Rustoleum Diamond semi-gloss. Diamond was selected because it’s a barrier coat that doesn’t yellow. No other reason.

I’ve read several threads, particularly Googlebutt’s bamboo desktop.

It would seem that Diamond should be fine. I should sand to 220+, rub it on with a foam brush and/or cotton cloth (with the grain), and apply four or five coats.

I plan to thin the first coat with 30% mineral spirits.

Any advice before I give this a try? If I’m way off, I’d appreciate being pointed in the right direction.

Thanks for being awesome!
