It’s heading for an iceberg!
Maybe it’s time to select a few moderators that are online alot, and give them the power to ban a profile before it gets so out of hand like we are seeing right now.

I think I’m allowed to give feedback on a possible cure that would help the site.
I’m sorry if you don’t see it that way.
(obviously nobody is on it)

i think your right about needing more moderators, cricket cant do it all alone and this isn’t the only forum she admins.

Admin for more than one forum…..I don’t think I would wish that on my worst enemy.

I hate spam but I can ignore. It is a really sleazy business for someone to get paid to steer hits a site. It must take millions of posts just to get one “click”. The sad truth is it will make it more difficult for the “good” users to get in to this forum too.

I am a moderator on the sister site of LJs called WoodWorkingTalk.com
there are 4 moderators onboard there that take care of such issues pretty quickly.
three of the moderators from WWT are also members here, but have no admin powers.
Cricket is the manager of several forums and with LumberJocks, she told me
that this particular platform does not allow for individual moderators like other forums.
so she has to take care of all of this stuff with a minimum Admin Staff.
and if the members here start overloading her mailbox with well known problems,
it slows her down even more.
and as for the bickering, it has no place in this forum (or any other).

this is a list of forums that this Administration has to monitor constantly:
so you can see that a person can be stretched pretty thin without help.
Ted’s posts will not throw you into oblivion if you click on it or look at it.
it is just annoying as heck that they get away with their blanket postings.
some people have reported getting a virus from opening some of its links.
but never proven. (just third party gossip). so just ignore him and his antics
and stay focused on why you are here on this forum to begin with. not bickering.
if you want to expand your knowledge base, skill and experience levels,
please visit any of the forums listed below that you feel may be of interest to you.

I’ve been swamped with home remodeling projects so I haven’t had the time or inkling to get on here for a while, but let me tell you, my inbox is getting flooded with SPAM from some POS “dear woodworker” crap on almost all of my posts,” 10,000 posts in 10 hours, yeah tell me that’s not a bot…

Why does this site not have active moderators?

It’s a free site. Take the good with the bad. I also just ignore it.

I hardly ever get any spammers in my inbox. Treat just like junk mail in my mail box at home.
Throw it away.

Did you guys not see this from Cricket?
“First and foremost, I want you to know that we are actively working on the removal of the woodworkqgyl account. (The account has been locked.) Unfortunately, due to the volume of this one, I need ops to assist in the removal of this account from the database. This issue has already been escalated.

That being said, I have a huge favor to ask of you. Starting multiple threads in the community about spam simply does not help. Replying to the spammer posts (no matter how much ya wanna yell at them) just makes my job that much harder. Flagging every single post a spammer made only serves to blow up my inbox. You only need to report ONE of the spammer’s posts. As always, for urgent issues, message me.”

You can give all the feedback you want. I will give you mine. Cricket does a good job given the limitations of the site software. Criticizing Cricket will not do you much good and not get you friends.

Feedback taken,
but I don’t know who takes care of spammers.
Show me where I criticized Cricket?
My opening thread had a viable suggestion, with some humor in the headline.
It’s not my fault others have blown it out of proportion.

Cheers

Edit: I don’t care whether I make friends or not. Either you like me or you don’t, doesn’t matter to me.
Since you don’t maybe you won’t be commenting on anymore of my threads?
