Hi folks I have an old Italian Laguna 18” band saw, a fairly new acquisition for me. the fence that came with it is just OK. I would like to improve on it but it is difficult to actually hold and feel an accessory these days prior to purchasing since online stuff is so prevalent. Can I get some comments on aftermarket fences to help me decide? Thank you so much for any feedback and I hope I can find my post and answers when I come back to check. Thanks guys! Steve Wolfe

As long as the saw is adjusted correctly and cuts without any drift with the fence you have a resaw fence is probably the easiest DIY project you can undertake. Just adapt one to the fence you already have. Lagunas are usually pretty accurate so you should be able to build one that fits over or registers off of the fence that you already have. I’d spend the $ on a Laguna Resaw King blade and make the fence but the commercial ones listed below sure are nice.

The 2 commercial ones I have heard good things about are:

DriftMaster System and Driftmaster on an 18” Laguna and Accu-slice

I have an old Italian MiniMax S45 bandsaw. I bought it used without a fence several years ago. I could not find a Driftmaster fence to buy at the time so I bought a Kreg bandsaw fence and replaced the fence with a longer one. It seems to work well.

Have your say...
