Just received an email from “woodworkingasz” via “ lumberjocks notifier” trying to entice me to sign into a special link. Which I have and will ignore.

This is the second one of these messages I’ve received in the past year. As I am not a regular visitor to this forum I question how Safe it actually is.

yeah it’s been a huge problem keeping the spammers out lately,as hard as they try they keep getting in,it was so bad at one point the admins shut the forum down to new members.just be careful with what you open and flag anything suspicious and they will be removed.

Thank you for the prompt reply. As an infrequent visitor, please advise me as to how to “flag” this message to admin.

If you look between the reply header and text, you will see where it says Flag. Click on that and you can flag as spam or inappropriate. I don’t know if a way to flag via a notification other than to send Cricket a message with the details. She is usually pretty prompt.

Firewood:

Appreciate the suggestion re contacting Cricket. As the message came to me via an email I am not sure how I can flag it to her attention. Suggestions?

JFP-
Flagging personal messages may be harder than flagging a reply to a post that may be spam.
Replies have a small “flag” hot button beneath the poster’s name and icon (on the left).

If I remember correctly, no real way to flag a personal message but you can “block” that member from sending personal messages or replying to your posts by clicking on the “block” button beneath their name and icon.

Cricket (our admin) recently posted this concerning spammers.
Its worth a read.

I got one of those from that joker on my email but not here on LJ’s. I would have flagged it when I got here.

Based on the link that MrWolfe referenced above I have sent a PM to Cricket advising her of the basics of the message.
