Lately a lot of guys are building Moxon vises, and most look very usable. I got email today from WoodSmith about building your own bench vise. Either a Jock, or one of the you tube guys had a bench vice, that I’ve seen here. Maybe it’s just unconventional, but it looks kinda wordy to me.

Anyhow here is the link for this vise WoodSmith is offering a plan for.

I think most of the guys here would take the idea, and roll their own, The plan probably wouldn’t offer much.

Shop made leg vise…

As a third hand during glue ups…

Just a Sycamore 2×6…and a pipe clamp

K.I.S.S. Vise…(BTW: that lower shelf is about the same height as the pipe….very stable to sit large panels in…

it looks like an update to the shopnotes version from 120 http://www.shopnotes.com/issues/120/sources/our-best-bench-vise-ever/

I’m always impressed by what those guys came up with. I built their router table for trim routers and use it often and their adjustable box joint jig which works well for a variety of box joints.

Woodsmith/Shopnotes have had articles over the years for several bench top vises. This one is from SN # 71

And they revisited it here in Woodsmith #233. You can see it in this video.
