well ill tell ya rich im not much of a football fan, super bowl is pretty much it,and thats for the commercials-ha,but those plays were pretty incredible moments.
It could be argued that any sport has moments showcasing incredible moments when a competitor just gives it their all.
But it's only in football, where I am aware that some of these incredible moments are named, and they continue on in history being known by these names.
"The Immaculate Reception"
"The Drive"
"Miracle in the Meadowlands"
"The Catch"
"The Heidi Game"
"Music City Miracle"
"The Fumble"
"Fumblerooski"
"The Holy Roller"
"The Ghost to the Post"
Good post, and so timely. Thanks Richard, it was a memories thing.
A few others where it's possible a name was created, and maybe the effort was the norm for the player may be Babe Ruth's "The Called Shot" where the Bambino pointed out where his homer was heading. My favorite is
"Catholics vs. Convicts" or Notre Dame versus Miami. It's a Palooza kinda game with plenty of video, here is just a short preview
Old Jack did have a fetching smile, didn't he? Like any of the top sports, it's changed, because of lawsuits, and media. I say bar them both. Last I heard Football was a contact sport, but you can hardly tell. Even Centers have protections, and they are line guys. I don't follow Hockey, but I can't imagine it's the same game either.
