IMPORTANT: Instructions Regarding Spam

First and foremost, I want you to know that we are actively working on the removal of the woodworkqgyl account. (The account has been locked.) Unfortunately, due to the volume of this one, I need ops to assist in the removal of this account from the database. This issue has already been escalated.

That being said, I have a huge favor to ask of you. Starting multiple threads in the community about spam simply does not help. Replying to the spammer posts (no matter how much ya wanna yell at them) just makes my job that much harder. Flagging every single post a spammer made only serves to blow up my inbox. You only need to report ONE of the spammer's posts. As always, for urgent issues, message me.

Please take the time to review this post regarding spam.

Hopefully, you and your ops team can also use this incident to ID ways to automatically lock accounts when they start doing a mass spamming like this. Anyone who does more than 1 post per minute for several minutes straight or more than 10-15 in the first hours are very likely spammers.

Oops. Sorry.

Thanks.

No worries at all. When a user flags spam, I make sure to look at the other posts of a spammer.

I'm as guilty as anybody - my apologies, I didn't know

Okay, folks, we have a tempory fix that isn't the best solution overall, but it will work for now to avoid some database complications.

As you already know, the account was locked. All of the spammer's posts will display as blank.

As I come across them, I will delete them manually one by one, but this will take some massive time so it definitely will not happen overnight.

Just to clarify, one report per spammer. If there are 10 different spammers, I need a flag for each.

Please DO NOT flag/report the blank post or I will still be trying to fix this on the 4th of July.

I flagged the spammer once. However, I hesitated over the flag button. How many others have already flagged this person? Will I be #1000? Wouldn't hurt to be #1001 I guess. I was concerned of the inrush numbers of flag reports for a single post, not to mention an entire acct. Since most spammers only post 1-5 messages in volume then go POOF… maybe…. Capthca thingy for new member postings till that person gets to 10 or 20 OK'd messages?
