Ok so as I am trying to get the garage organized to start setting up my tools, I am also looking for things that I am interested in having.

A bandsaw is one of these things, There just doesn't seem to be a lot out there in my area right now. I did run across
a craigslist ad for a 14" Delta 28-216 Bandsaw with 6" riser block and after market bearing kit. It looks like it is in good working condition. This seller is asking $625. Just not sure if this is a good price for this saw

Any advise would be greatly appreciated

IMHO - Too expensive, move on.
No need to pay more than $350-$400 for decent used 14" bandsaw. Brand new Grizzly 14" is only $625? Riser block adds $100. Used 14" saw without extra upgrades sell for $200-$250 on my CL, or they sit there for months till price drops. While not as common to see used, I can find 17"-18" used bandsaw for $600-$700.

BTW - IMHO The old 1-1.5HP 14" saws with riser do not have enough horsepower, and are really slow to resaw hard exotic woods. If you absolutely need the resaw hardwood capability of riser block, buy a bigger saw. Several mfg now make 14" resaw bandsaw's with 2HP motors for the exact reason.

Best Luck on hunt.

I picked up a Delta 28-276, which looks similar to the 216, about a month ago without the riser but with a Kreg fence installed and only gave $240 for it. Put new tires on it since one was torn (the guy had ordered new ones but they hadn't come in when I came to get it and I didn't want to wait). I looked at quite a few before I picked this one up and I think $625 is way overpriced.

Ok so it sounds like this person really loves his band saw. What would be a good price to pay for this saw? I am going to go look at it tomorrow but did not want to overpay, which is why I posted here.

Your profile shows you are in San Diego. I just looked at Facebook marketplace in the area. There s a Delta 28-206 (14" band saw) listed for$200. It s probably sold but is a good indicator of what might pop up if you keep looking.

Well my profile lied to you, I will have a talk to it about liying.

I am now in Jacksonville, Fl. I have found 3 or 4 different bandsaws around the area but it seems like they are all kind of high based on what I am being told.

$625 down to $400, that's quite a price cut and maybe closer to reality. I know when I picked my table saw the guy was pretty high on his price and I almost didn't even go look at it but when I got there and started talking to the guy he said he talked to his friend and just threw a price on it, I told him what I thought was fair and I was willing to pay and we came to an agreement quite a bit less than the advertised price. Sometimes you need to tell the seller what they have and what iit's worth.

Yea I came pretty close to not going to look away this one. We talked for about 30 minutes or so and and he seemed to be a nice guy (Dentist actually) but I told him he was pretty high. He asked me what I thought it was worth and based on feedback from the forums I told him somewhere between $325 - $400. He was like sorry can't go down that much and I said thanks for showing my your bandsaw and if you change your mind let me know. I was in the truck get ready to pull out when he stopped me and said he would take $400.

I am picking up tomorrow. You think this was an ok deal.

It was OK, depending on what mobile base it is, it does add some value….the box of blades may or may not be worth something. On any deal like this, what's important is whether you are satisfied. I think you will do well with the saw. Congrats.

Thanks Fred.

It came with 7 blades (4-Powertec, 1- Supercut, 1- Woodcraft and a AccuRight) mobile base and dust collection fittings for hooking it up.

That's a very good one, and I noticed that you have the optional DC connection. I tried to find one of those for years and couldn't, they are supposed to work very well…they also ran about $40 new (IIRC).
