So about a month ago I found slabs in attic and with help of you guys I found out they we are e poplar. Now I have opened another and appears to be walnut. I have never worked with walnut. And the grain is so smooth and perfect in person that I at first thought it was fake haha. Can you confirm if it is walnut. And please god dont be fake. Haha. It has end grain and still had some bark on sides so I’m sure it’s not fake. Its just the grain is so spectacular in many ways. Pics dont do justice!

I’m no good at wood ID, but walnut is reasonable. I suggest looking at the Wood Database online. Its a really handy resource. Assuming you, like I, are just in this as a hobby, it probably doesn’t matter too much anyway, unless you have to consider an allergy to a specific species of wood. Good luck and enjoy using it.

Definitely looks like Walnut to me. One of my favorite woods to work with :-)

Old tile? Lucky you. I just find dust.

Hah! I found sections of the replacement galvanized pipe that was used the first time my house was repiped. The last plumbers never removed it after replacing it. I’m on a slab and nobody wants to pay to have the concrete jackhammered. The last owners had copper installed.

Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth, pottz. Roof rat stew can be good eating. Comfort food on those chilly, winter nights! Yum! ;-))
