Topic tags/keywords: question sander sanding

I recently purchased a new to me SECO 24” wide belt sander. I’m wondering if anyone else has or has had/used one of these machines? I have a few questions. The pictures shown are not mine, but I have this same machine.

Yes, I know quite a bit a about them. What do you need to know? I have worked on many similar models as that design was used by probably 10 plus different manufactures over the last 25 years. Those are very easy to adjust and work on, and parts are readily available. Not much to them actually. I can adjust the conveyer platform parallel to the sanding drum in 20 minutes on one of those.

SweetTea, thank you for responding! The shortest story is, I don’t have a “high speed” on the conveyer belt. low speed works fine, but when switched to high the belt just stops.

The longer story is that I think I was running it so that the wild leg was feeding the electronics and that most likely blew a varistor. While trying to diagnose that I was messing with the over rides in the lower control panel and ended up blowing the main breaker that runs the whole shop…. it bypassed (2) different 60 amp breakers and blew the main.

Eventually we ironed out what the real problem was, (the varistor), and it’s working again but not the high speed. I may have damaged that, I don’t know. I only had it running for 1 day , and only about an hour that day before it stopped altogether. So I can’t remember if that was high speed was working before, or not. I think that it was.

Have your say...
