Topic tags/keywords: incra ls router bits dovetails

My Incra LS17 super system was delivered yesterday. Assembly does not look to difficult…we shall see. I am confused re which bits will be required. Should I buy the Whiteside 6 bit Incra starter set or am I better off buying one bit at a time. I have numerous straight bits but they are not up-spiral….is that an important consideration? Do I select dovetail bit based on stock thickness. If this is true, which bit should I buy for 3/8 stock? 1/2 inch stock? Most of projects will be small boxes primarily with 3/8 or 1/2 inch stock.

I will make box joints as my first attempt. I am at a lakeside cabin near bar harbor maine…...any LS users in the area?
Thanks for suggestions re getting started. I have lusted after this tool for 25 years. I expect it will be my last major tool purchase. I built an oversized cabinet and purchased Incra 42×27 top. I have a 2 1/2hp router w a jessum lift
