Topic tags/keywords: miter saw stand

I just put together a Bosch T4B mobile miter stand (after trying two of HF’s “highly rated” models. Yeah, get what you pay for …). The stand has a red stop on the rail assembly, and one of the brackets that holds the saw is supposed to be up against this stop (I’m fairly certain that the purpose of the stop is to prevent the saw from sliding when the stand is vertical). The other bracket is positioned according to the size of the saw. With my DWS780 miter saw, this puts the saw way to the right of center. Is there any reason that the saw has to be centered on the stand? I could unbolt and reposition the stop (there are only a few inches of room to move it), but I’m not sure if there’s any reason to do this (the asymmetry of the side supports doesn’t seem like a problem). Am I missing anything? Apologies for the basic question.
