New to the forums and relatively new woodworker. I was wondering if this is red cedar? That’s what it was sold to me as. Thanks in advance

Could be Western Red Cedar. Does it have a particularly strong aroma?

Crappy picture, but it looks like Chestnut. It definitely isn’t Cedar of any description.

I’ve never seen western red cedar with bug holes in it. Looks more like chestnut.Cedar has a strong not unpleasant aroma. Where did you buy it?

I think it’s time to reject questions about wood species based on fuzzy photos. All we get is vague opinions and jokes. If the OP really wants to know the species, he (or she) should go to authoritative sources.

Does it smell like a #2 pencil when you cut it? What are the dimensions of the boards and how much do they weigh? The photo doesn’t look like any Cedar that I’ve seen to date. Sorry.
