Greetings.
I am in need of a tongue & groove V panel shaper bit set that will cut 1.5” stock. I have a customer with three barns that are 10 years old. The siding is 2×8” Southern Yellow Pine Tongue and Groove. He wants all of the rotten boards replaced to original specs and I want to make him happy. So far I have called Amana Tool, Infinity, Whiteside and Grizzly and they don’t have what I need. Any suggestions on who may carry such a bit set? We have also been unsuccessful at finding pre-shaped boards here in North Florida.

Thank you

-- Chet

I’d be using separate router bits on the router table. One to cut the tongue and groove, and another bit to cut the V angle. For the V-cut the Whiteside #3401, #1506 or #1508. The Whiteside #3374 is for maximum 1” board thickness. Have you tried contacting Whiteside directly to make you a router bit to your specs, since they are a machine shop. 1-800-225-3982 or whitesiderouterbits.com

1.25” bore?

How many lineal feet? Cheapest option would be corrugated knives if you already have head.

If you count both sides of the stock, 1500 linear feet. This is why I would like to have one bit that cuts the T&G and the V cut. Whiteside wanted $1200 to custom make a bit. I ordered a 91-527 from Infinity with which I will have to cut the V separate. I’m using a Grizzly Shop Fox and my max spindle is 1”. I will look into the Corrugated knives. I have not tried Freeborn yet. I will call them this morning.
I may be getting in over my head being a novice but how else are we to challenge ourselves?
I appreciate everyone’s .

There is a set of 40mm euro block knives that are close to that profile (bevel edge t&g) the head (amana 68mm) would be around $100 and the knives another 40 to 50 total.

083 and 084

Also are you running this on the shaper with a power feeder or by hand?

If you’re using a feeder, run it off a back / outboard fence.

Jared, It will be by hand. I do not have a power feeder. It’s on my wish list.
Thank you.

Outcome:
W. Moore Profiles, LTD made the cutting knives that I needed at a very reasonable price. I was able to shape all of the boards shown below and the knives held up to the end. Thank you for all of your advice.

Wow, a thread that doesn’t drag on for years and years. Congratulations!
