So I have a Craftsman 6” jointer, not supported anymore so I can’t just order a new motor. Was having some trouble a while back, ended up I had toasted the run capacitor, found a replacement and was up and running again. Until now. Was running fine today and then it just turned off. Didn’t blow a circuit. Run capacitor (basically brand new) seems to have some oil in the compartment so I’m guessing that’s blown again. It felt pretty hot. If I turn the motor on, it still turns but very slowly. Last time when I blew the capacitor, it still ran full speed, just created lots of smoke. I had checked the centrifugal switch last time and it seemed to be in good working order. Haven’t checked it yet this time, next on my agenda. Any ideas what could be the problem?
