Can’t post this under projects as I didn’t make it but can say I am damn proud to own it. Just in case he doesn’t post it, I will.

Around Xmas time I posted some pics of some alder…err….I mean walnut crotch and burl that member Scott and I had gotten. TheFridge proposed a trade of wood for a dovetail saw made from it so I sent him a box of it that I had sliced up that he then dried for the last few months.

These pics were in the email he sent me this morning. As you might imagine I could not be happier!

He said “I picked the best handle I got out of the slab. That twisting grain was a challenge. Next time I’ll probably pay Bob Summerfield to stabilize it so it doesn’t tearout as easy. Was well worth the trouble though.

9” long, 18 ppi, 1-1/2” under spine, finished with CA glue, Amber shellac and renaissance wax. This was my favorite build so far. ”

That is SO COOL!! You are one lucky guy, Andy. And Fridge, awesome work. It’s mind-blowing.

As I told Fridge I was conflicted about mounting it for display only or actually using it but he talked me into using it. As I am not the most meticulous at taking care of my tools I’m afraid it’ll get dinged up or dropped and break. I will probably put it away until I build a case for it and even then only pull it out to use it.

But, then again….... its a tool that I would use if I kept it available.

As a super-satisfied owner of one of Fridge’s DT saws, I can say you should definitely use it. It is pretty but it’s still pretty when you use it and it cuts like a dream :-)) Congrats on your new saw!

That’s a beauty. I can’t stop looking at it and if I had it in my shop, I would probably be constantly holding it.

That is a beautiful burly handle! Kind of a birdseye walnut there, really cool piece of wood and gorgeous saw! Looks like the custom Bad Axe or Cosman ones I can’t afford, i had to settle for an LN.
