Hello,

I’m selling my Lie-Nielsen No. 4 smoothing plane. The plane was purchased new by me in October 2018 and has only seen a small amount of use (fiddling and one weekend class). So, it is in great condition. I was able to try a No. 3 this past weekend and it fits my hands better so I’m selling this to buy one of those. These sell for $350 new. Asking $300 + $20 for shipping. That’s a 15% discount off the new price. I’m also willing to trade for a Lie-Nielsen No. 3.

Thank you!

I’m assuming this is the bronze casting?

Yes. It’s the stock plane as it comes from Lie-Nielsen. Nothing has been modified on it either.

Beautiful tool. I would imagine that if there was a showroom where buyers could try these out that a very large percentage of people would say, “That is so-oh nice. I think I will treat myself!!”
Good luck with the sale, and your next plane!!

Nice plane, but it’s actually more like an 8% discount after your shipping. I’d just buy new.

You didn’t factor in shipping from Lie Nielsen. $350 for the plane + $14.24 (UPS Ground) = $364.24. $320 / $364.24 = .8785. 1 – .8785 = .1215 or 12.15%.

Have your say...
