I have come across a friend of a friend who’s woodworking husband recently passed. She doesn’t have a clue how to sell the equipment so i’m helping. I came across a Superior branded drill press – one I have never heard of and am having a devil of a time researching. Probably because “superior” is a popular adjective. I am interesting in purchasing it, though at a fair price.
Anyone heard of this company? Motor is from the 1980s. I found a bit at VintageMachinery but they’re all old stuff from early 20th century – nothing like what I am looking at.
Any idea what I could fairly offer? Assume its functionally solid.

Looks like your standard generic Taiwan import… nothing really special about it. I’d offer $100 tops, but only if that cool helmet comes with it:)

Cheers,
Brad

Reminds me of the “tools” that would be sold in parking lots and fairgrounds in the 60s, 70s and 80s when an outfit would come to town, rent a lot, and advertise in the newspapers and radio about the “great tools at bargain prices blowout” and make up typical blather about these tools being from ‘major manufacturers at prices so low we can’t mention them here.”

“So come out to the fairgrounds this weekend and get all your tools for low, low prices!”

If you give 100 for it that’s probably 50 too much but you may luck out and it actually is from a “major manufacturer.” Just don’t be the farm on it.

Put a long known good bit on it and fire it up. If the tip wobbles, then $50. If it run true, then $100.
