I really want to visit that place. Maybe if I can work out the logistics this might be right time. Thanks!

It you can make it work for you then it’s well worth the visit. After moving from ohio, visiting Keim is the only other thing I miss besides family.

We have bought many, many items at Keim over the past 30+ years and remember the days when it was just a small store with a few buildings in the back – it’s been amazing to watch the mega-transformation over the years. We’re planning on being there but still deciding which day to go.

Just an hour away is Hartville Hardware which is having their Home & Garden Expo and Sale on Saturday Apr 6th and we might just make a double-feature out of the trip and hit both of these Ohio gem’s.

The only negative is that with Keim and the many other Amish sights, shopping and dining opportunities, and Hartville with the hardware, the Hartville Marketplace & Flea Marketplace right behind and Hartville Kitchen next door, squeezing it all into one day can be challenging. For those that have never been to either place, you would be giving yourself a special treat to visit one, or the other, or both.

Hartville is also on my visit list, though I’ve bought a fair amount of stuff from them over the years (internet orders).

Close enough to visit, but I can’t see on their website that they carry lumber. They have “specialty wood” and a pile of exotics, but no basic wood stock.

Keim has all types of lumber including a large amount of exotics and tools and supplies as well as Kitchen and Bath fixtures. Too much to tell about. I never seem to see it all when I go. I love the big boxes of scraps. larry

Yeah their boxes of scraps can have some real treasures. I’ve also found that during one of these big events is NOT the best time to find goodies in the scrap bins but rather a week or so before hand. I’ve found 1 1/8” x 6” x 14” chunks of leopard wood for $5 in there before, not to mention curly maple, cherry and very figured walnut.

Keim has a large building materials desk area where you can sit down with an associate and place your order for anything from lumber, to windows (we replaced all the windows in our previous home with windows from Keim), roofing and more. They will then deliver your order up to 150 miles or you can pick up your items that day. For pick-up orders, it can be best to place your order when you get to the store and it will be ready for loading when you are ready to leave. They also have a variety of wood samples inside the cabinets in the order area so you can view the product if you aren’t quite sure what you would want.
