I’ve been debating with myself ( my wife won’t offer any input ) about buying a dowelmax. Then it was suggested that I look at/for a used one.
I looked and it seems that right now there are none listed BUT perhaps there is someone out there that has decided that their dowelmax is no longer needed in their shop.
If that be the case – pm me and we can talk

Thanks,

Hi Dick. I think you should just buy one from Grizzly:
https://www.grizzly.com/products/Dowelmax-Dowelmax-Classic-3-8-Kit/T28402?gclid=Cj0KCQjwhPfkBRD0ARIsAAcYycHgauym7PM99wdSQlUEKybw3UQxz_fnUgQi-mCRX--apH2I4YA9x-MaAtWrEALw_wcB

I do a lot of dowel joinery and I made my own fixture and it is real accurate. They are real nice to have for most any project.

Cheers, Jim

Yeah Jim, I’ve been looking at that for 3 weeks. By the time it’s over the total is $342 plus tax and maybe shipping so a $400 dollar bill could dissappear real quick.
I checked and I only have a few of them left ‹(•¿•)›

You won’t go wrong with the Dowelmax. Get all the pieces (miter bracket, angle bracket, 1/4 guides, etc) and you’ll be set.

They’re great people to deal with. There’s plenty of Youtube videos that show you the ease and reliability of the Dowelmax.

Holding it in your hand is like holding a beautiful sculpture. It’s art in a precision tool that can’t be beaten.

Whenever possible, it’s always my first choice in joining wood.

I have had excellent results with this $15.00 unit from Harbor Freight. You will find mixed reviews, and I did a review myself 4 years ago. Most people’s criticisms of this unit, I found, were caused by not setting up the jig carefully to achieve the best results. If you combine this with a dowel center tenon set like these at Woodcraft, you will achieve perfect results.

You can get the Dowelmax Jr from McFeely’s for less than a hundred bucks. Either way you can’t go wrong, it’s precision and quality make it a good value.

I don’t think the JR will do me much good – I need the classic with all the accessories

Just buy it directly from dowelmax.com. Same price and they offer free shipping if ordering by phone.

I really like my dowelmax. It’s incredible accurate.
