I need help finding an item. When you make door panel inserts out of hardwood, you’ve got to make them slightly undersized to account for expansion. They sell these rubber pellets that you can put in there as spacers that keeps the panel centered, but compresses if the wood expands. What on earth do you call them and where can I get them?

lee Valley sells them as “panel Barrels”. Alternatively, I have heard reports of folks using small chunks of aquarium tubing.

The traditional way is not to use anything but a bit of glue on the center of the panel. It allows for expansion but keeps the panel in place.
