I was able to snag 2 of these posts marked as oak from my local woodmill. They are 2 laminated 2×4’s to make 4×4 x 4’ posts.

Do you think this is curly oak? I have never seen oak like this with so much figure.

I’ve seen curly oak. It’s a bear to work but very rewarding if you stay the course

Looks like walnut, heart and sap glued together.

If it is curly white be careful when using a jointer or planer because you could have chunks ripped out. A friend of mine made a table out of it and he had to deal with the chunks being ripped out. There was a design change or two.

I’m thinking your teasing everyone here! I see some very impressive pieces of federal styled furniture in the background in your photos! Something tells me your playing with us! Yes that is some nice looking lumber. I think you have already got a real decent idea what it is and what your going to do with it! Am I getting close?
