I’m planning to a upgrade to a cyclone dust collection and just started the research process and came across the Powermatic PM2200. I like the features, but it’s a bit pricey. Anyone have any reviews on this model or reasons why I should choose another brand?

Thanks,
Kevin

I recently picked up a second hand Laguna 2 hp cyclone that is their previous model. My collector appears to be very similar to the current Jet 2 hp cyclone. The cyclone has very good separation, with very little dust collecting in the small bag under the pleated filter. If I had to replace my Laguna, I would not hesitate to replace it with the similar Jet. I don’t think I would spend the extra money for the Powermatic.

I have a small basement shop, with about 15’ of 6” steel duct coming off the collector and ~15’ of 4” duct in 3 runs off that, with blast gates at each tool. I sealed up all joints with aluminum tape or ductwork sealant, and dust collection at each tool is excellent.

Thanks for the feedback. I’m certainly going to do a lot of research before make my purchase. Would you buy another Laguna?

For that kind of money I would want a long cone separator. Check out my recent review of my oneida. Love it, excellent separation, relatively quiet, tons of airflow. Would definitely buy again.

ditto ive had the jet for over a year now and love it,ive got probably a 100’ of 4” runs with 10 gates and i have no problem with suction.ive become a big fan of jet tools the last few years.
