Does anyone have an idea on how to make them safe for selling to the public? Like if I get most of the chipping paint off and polyurethane the whole thing a bunch so the remaining paint is maybe sealed in would it be safe?

Ecobond or LeadX are 2 of several certified products used to encapsulate lead paint for abatement.

This sounds like a liability nightmare to me. In many States, you have to be certified to do lead abatement. I don’t know that applying something yourself would protect you from a future lawsuit. I’d ask a lawyer first.

At a minimum I would make sure you disclose the lead based paint under whatever you use. I’d note it right in the receipt.

I have seen lead paint removed with peel away. Disposing of it is going to be a challenge.

why not just sell them? is there a law against selling old doors? how do you know it’s lead did you have it tested?
If they choose to sand or eat the doors that’s on them.

i agree dont over think it,the whole lead paint issue is way overblown.unless you breath in lead paint dust or as snipes said, eat the wood with paint on it’s not a problem-lol.
