So this is a long story and I will do my best trying to shorten it. About 6 years ago I picked up a Powermatic Model 54 6” joiner (Circa 2004) off of a man for about $350. He was frustrated with it saying it never produced good enough edges. His glue ups were off all the time. Turns out he never properly adjusted the out feed table which was a simple fix. I used that joiner in my shop for 6 years never having to put any money or much time into the machine. Two months ago I got the itch to upgrade my joiner and found an old (Green Circa 70’s) Powermatic model 60 8” for sale pretty close to my town. The kid who was selling the machine only had two pics up on the website and “Make me an offer” price tag. So about a month of going back and forth with him, he finally agrees to sell it to me for $350. When I get to his place to pick it up I was amazed that there was nothing missing on the machine! Nearly complete original! It had a 2hp motor, beds and fence was a little surface rust but overall in great condition (Even mounted to a mobile base) Of course I took it home without any question. Now back to my original model 54 6” joiner. I posted it for sale and within 3 days sold it for $550. I never put any money or considerable amount of time into the machine! I brought my new/old joiner into my shop and within 1 hour I had it cleaned up and set and in perfect working order. I tell you all of this because… the 11 years I have been married to my wife she was finally impressed with anything relating to my wood shop! I still can’t believe that I was able to find, buy, and sell the machines in a way that I actually made money for once on equipment. Keep up the good hunt my friends…..someday you may impress your significant others with finding great deals on tools.

That’s a nice machine.
Easily one of the best 8inch jointers of its time.
