A coworker’s mom is coming to visit for the holidays and he just moved into a new apt and has limited furniture. He needs a nightstand to go beside her bed. In a moment of weakness I volunteered to make one for him. Coming up with a top is no problem but I need some quick and easy leg ideas. Maybe just some tapered and stained 2×4’s with an apron and pocket screws?

Just thinking out loud.

Yellow pine 4×4s cut into cabriole legs.

Yeah! That’s what I’m thinkin’. Wipe them down with some stain and Bob’s your mothers brother.

Or, maybe I tell him to go to Ikea.

Depends on tools and materials in hand.

Cabriolet legs with a spokeshave and a scraper can go quick if there no stops in the curves.

If I do anything I’ll throw them in the taper jig. But I just realized that this is only going to make my Xmas more stressful. I just apologized and told him to go to Ikea and pick up a $25 side table. In the words of George Bush, “Not gonna do it”.
