While cutting the burls from this piece of black walnut, the crotch section that I resawed yielded this interesting illusion.

I see a fox’s face peering up over a log in the center of this cut.

Very interesting! I’m curious why you referred to it as “resawing.” It looks like the first time cut.

First slices were on either side of the pith to remove it. These are 2” thick bookmatched slices which are now stacked and stickered.

Very beautiful; black walnut always is though.

Now the hard part—- letting them lay until they tell you what they are going to be.
