Hi Folks,

I received a Wards Masters #4 plane after the passing of my father in law. The lever cap screw is currently too short to allow the lever cap to be properly snugged up. Does anyone know the size of the lever cap screw? Stopping my my local hardware store, 1/4” diameter is too small, and 5/16” is too large…..leads me to believe 9/32, but no idea of the thread count.

Thanks in advance,
joe

If it’s was made by Stanley you won’t find it in a hardware store. They used proprietary thread sizes.

That’s what I was afraid of…...coincidentally, I found another similar plane under my bench, it used the same size screw. For now, I’m back in action.
