I’ve buit a lot with cherry, but I’m having a new problem. I have this dark grain streaks in the woods. It looks a little like what often happens with white oak. I’ve just hand planed this whole board after using 80 grit ROS. It doesn’t seem to want to Go away. Ideas? -- "Man is the only animal which devours his own, for I can apply no milder term to the general prey of the rich on the poor." ~Thomas Jefferson |

Charles it looks like a bacteria or fungus start when when the wood was wet. It’s not a very pleasing looking pic of Cherry. I think most would agree it’s pretty ugly. Maybe it’s bad lighting? -- Aj |

The lighting is bad. I usually do plane first, but I was dealing with this unexpected issue. -- "Man is the only animal which devours his own, for I can apply no milder term to the general prey of the rich on the poor." ~Thomas Jefferson |

Did the board come like this and you thought you could plane/sand it off or was this after resawing? Just asking out of curiosity, nothing else. |
