I’ve been waiting for the next Rikon sale to buy the 10-326 bandsaw. Just noticed that Rikon will be offering the saw with a DVR motor starting early next year. An extra cost, but maybe worth the wait?

Rikon showed them at IWF and it is a good use of DVR tech, however, if you only cut wood it is essentially useless. If one cuts a lot of different materials it could be a very different proposition.

It would have to be truly wonderful to invest $630 in the speed control. I would think the blade is more critical for smooth cuts.

Interesting but does not seem to be worth the extra.

I can understand the technology on a lathe or drill press but not band saw.

It reminds me of a 3 speed vacuum cleaner I once had. The settings should have been labeled (1) Very effective, (2) somewhat effective and (3) not very effective. I bet you can guess which setting I used exclusively.
