Hello, I picked this up at a Goodwill store. It is 28” and in 32nds. Tried looking on internet but didn’t see anything close. Hoping someone knows what this was used with. It cost $3 and because it was in 32nds I assumed it was used woodworking somehow. |

Looks like it goes with a piece of equipment of some sort. -- Shooting down the walls of heartache. Bang bang. I am. The warrior. |

Pretty sure it is an Alder thickness gauge. Used in most of the finer wood sourcing houses! |

Take a picture with a plain white background and do a google image search. if you do that with the pictures now it will look for furniture. Maybe someone will know what it is, barring that try the google search. -- Gary, Central Illinois |

Looks a lot like the measuring arm of a triple beam scale you find in a doctor’s office. |

I thought the same thing but I doubt that accuracy to 1/32nd inch is necessary for such a tool. It looks to me like a part of some kind of depth gauge. Perhaps liquid measurement based on volume displacement in a vat or container. It might be useful for measuring the inside depth of a hollow form on a lathe. -- "You know, I'm such a great driver, it's incomprehensible that they took my license away." --Vince Ricardo |
