Giving all the cast iron surfaces in a good cleaning. Surface rust only, no pitting anywhere. Had purchased the boeshield in a kit from Sears with 3m pad in hand time to go right. Applied the product as directed and got these funky spots. Now how do I get rid of these? Any opinions?

It sounds like you are talking about the RustFree de-rusting product. Yep, if you spray it directly on a surface=spots. Steel wool and elbow grease. That said, it seems that RustFree will actually help your cast iron from further rusting. I suspect that it creates a chemical barrier that you can then wax over.
