I got some micron paper that’s unlabeled on either side. I’m assuming that the abrasive side is the dull side but wanted to check. boy that’s a dumb question

Nah man, dumb would be posting and saying “hey, I think I’ve been using the wrong side of this micron paper for a month” like I would have probably done.

Not a dumb question. Once you get to the finer grades of lapping films you can’t tell by feeling it! But yes, you’re correct that the dull side is the side you want to use.
