I’‘m trying to remove the front panel on my craftsman 113 . The height adjustment wheel turns but the blade doesn’t move up or down. So I would like to remove the front panel on the saw. I removed the set screw on the tilt adjustment wheel but no amount of pulling will remove it. It just turns on the shaft. Is there something I.m missing here. It worked fie a week ago. I would appreciate any help. Thanks

Would it be better to just flip the saw over onto it’s top….and look around at the trunnion? The worm drive shaft may have come off the gear to raise and lower the blade. Either the stop collar fell out, as I don’t remember any snap rings. While you have it turned over…clean all threads on both the height and the tilt shafts…

Wheels had a “D” shaped inside the collar….sometimes the wheel would split right there.

Been a LONG time since I used this saw….

Sad to say, you may have more serious problems than what you think…

You didn’t mention exactly what model 113 you have – those have changed a few times over the 50 years or so that Sears offered this model. Here is the manual for my saw model 113.29901.

If you look at the parts blowup for this saw on page 10, height adjustment is controlled by a worm gear on part 79 engaging on part 61 in the exploded parts drawing. Many times I have found the teeth stripped on part 61. I could be wrong, I hope I am wrong, but this is where to start.

I don’t think the front panel will come completely off….just the face piece with the logo, etc., so you’ll need to flip it over, clean it out, and take a good look. If the gears are damaged you may have some luck sourcing parts in Ebay.
